Garuda Indonesia was founded on August 1, 1947, as KLM Interinsulair Bedrijf and began operations on December 28, 1949. Garuda Indonesia is one of the top seven airlines in the world. Checked-in luggage may not exceed 70 pounds/32 kg. Free baggage allowance on domestic/international flights: economy class - maximum weight allowance is 20/30 kg for adults, children, and infants with seat (infant without seat allowed up to 10 kg); business class - up to 30 kg for adults, children and infants with seat (infant without seat allowed up to 10 kg); first class - up to 40 kg for adults, children and infants with seat (infant without seat allowed up to 20 kg). Hand baggage per passenger weighs 7 kg and has a maximum length of 56 cm, width 36 cm, depth 23 cm, and the maximum dimensions (sum of the three dimensions of each item of hand baggage) not exceed 115 cm.

Pets

Garuda Indonesia does not permit any type of live animal to fly in the cabin of its aircraft. Garuda Indonesia will allow small cats, dogs and other small mammals (hamsters) to fly in the cargo hold as accompanied checked baggage on flights within Indonesia only.

Infants

Infants under 2 years of age are accepted under the following conditions: the infant must be accompanied by an adult fare-paying passenger; the passenger is traveling on the same flight, in the same class, and to the same destination as the infant; and the infant must be accompanied by an adult passenger who is willing and able to assume full responsibility for the infant.

Passengers to check in at the airport at least 1 (one) hour before departure time for domestic departure and 2 (two) hours before departure time for international departure. City Check-in service is available at Garuda Indonesia Sales Office (domestic branch office) which available from 48 to 4 hours before departure time. Passengers can check in by telephone through the Garuda Indonesia Call Center. This service is available from 24 hours to 4 hours before departure. Garuda Indonesia Internet Check-in is an alternative check-in provided by Garuda Indonesia for Passenger to simplify check in via website. Available for domestic and international flight from 48-2 hour prior to departure.

Unaccompanied minors

Airline accept unaccompanied minor for International and Domestic Routes with these following provisions: between 6-7 years old may travel unaccompanied with no change of aircraft from origin to destination: between 8-12 years old may travel unaccompanied both in non-stop flight and flight with transit point (with or without aircraft change).
