Solomon Airlines is the national carrier of the Solomon Islands. It was founded in 1962 and is based at Honiara International Airport. The airline was started as a private initiative under the name Megapode and passed ownerships until it was fully acquired by the Solomon Islands government in 1984. Its first aircraft as flag carrier were two De Havilland Twin Otters. Today the airline operates a single A320 aircraft and a single Twin Otter serving over 20 domestic and international destinations.
