Baggage
All carry-on luggage must fit in the overhead bin or under the seat in front of you and adhere to the following requirements: baggage allowance for economy class passengers - 1 bag, for First/Business Class passengers - 2 bags. Maximum Dimensions of Carry-on Luggage: 55cm x 40cm x 23cm (length x width x height). Maximum Weight of Carry-on Luggage: 18 lb/8 kg. Any piece of baggage over 32 kg in weight will not be accepted, and the sum of its dimensions (width + depth + height) should not exceed 158 cm or excess baggage charges will apply.
Swiss Airlines allows each passenger to bring two animals onto a flight. Dogs and cats are welcome in the cabin on Swiss International flights, as long as the combined weight with carrier does not exceed 17 lbs (8 kg). Animals and carriers exceeding 17 lbs (8 kg) or whose transport container is bigger than the permitted size (longer, higher, or wider than 118 cm) must travel as checked cargo in the hold. Swiss considers medium carriers to be 60 cm x 45 cm x 40 cm, whereas large carriers are between 71 cm x 50 cm x 51 cm and 105 cm x 75 cm x 79 cm and only weigh up to 14 kg.
Children up to two years old (24 months), are not required to have their own seat. Only one lap child is allowed per adult. If one adult is traveling with more than one infant under two years of age, a seat must be purchased for each additional infant. Child under two years old (24 months) is usually charged 10% of an adult fare plus taxes, even if the infant will be on the lap of another passenger for the flight.
Check-in can be done online (via the website or mobile app) or at the airport. Online check-in begins 23 hours before departure and ends 60 minutes before departure. Check-in desks open three hours before departure and close 60 minutes before departure.
The airline provides an escort service for minors. The service is mandatory for children ages 5-12 traveling without an adult. Children ages 13-18 years are not required to travel as unaccompanied minors, but the service is also optional for this age group. Children under five years of age are not allowed to travel unless accompanied by an adult.
