Infants

Infants are defined as children under two years of age. Airlines do not allow infants younger than 14 days old to fly. Infants may fly without a seat on the aircraft. If you wish you can buy a seat for an infant at the infant fare. Children over two years of age must have their own seat on the plane. If one adult is traveling with two infants, one seat must be purchased for one infant and the other may be held on the lap.

VietJet Air FAQs

Find quick answers to the most common questions about flying with VietJet Air.

What are Vietjet Air VJ's usual cabin-baggage weight and size limits?

The general rule allows each passenger other than an infant under two one main cabin bag and/or one small item, with a combined weight of up to 7 kg, subject to fare and route. The main bag limit is 56 × 36 × 23 cm; an ordinary handbag is limited to 30 × 20 × 10 cm and a laptop bag to 40 × 30 × 10 cm.

Why should I have Vietjet Air VJ cabin baggage labelled at the check-in counter?

Vietjet requires its cabin-baggage label. Ask staff at the check-in counter to check and label your bag. Unlabelled bags may be refused in the cabin. The airline may recheck weight and dimensions at the gate, where non-compliant baggage can incur a fee or be refused.

What is the per-piece limit for standard checked baggage on Vietjet Air VJ?

A standard checked item must not exceed 32 kg or 119 × 119 × 81 cm. This is an acceptance limit, not a free 32 kg allowance. Checked baggage can be purchased in advance through the website, ticket offices, agents or customer service; airport purchase is more expensive.

How do I purchase oversized baggage for a Vietjet Air VJ flight, and can I upgrade standard baggage?

Oversized items are limited to 32 kg and 200 × 119 × 81 cm per piece. A prepaid oversized package includes one oversized item per passenger per sector. A second item must be purchased at the airport, with a maximum of two subject to local availability. Standard baggage can be upgraded by contacting a sales channel at least three hours before departure.

How does Vietjet Air VJ treat strollers, wheelchairs and infant baggage?

Strollers, wheelchairs and mobility aids are transported free of charge, but infants under two do not receive a separate baggage allowance. Powered mobility aids must still satisfy battery and special-transport conditions, so contact Vietjet before travel.

Where should I pack a laptop, cash and power banks on Vietjet Air VJ?

Vietjet recommends carrying valuables such as cash, jewellery, cameras, laptops and phones in cabin baggage rather than checking them in. Removable spare lithium batteries and power banks are cabin-only and must meet the airline's capacity and quantity limits.

What are the liquid limits on Vietjet Air VJ international flights, and are baby milk and medicines exempt?

Ordinary cabin liquids are limited to sealed containers of no more than 100 ml and a total of one litre per passenger. Milk and food for a child or infant travelling with you and medicines meeting Vietjet's prescription requirements are exempt from those ordinary limits. The prescription must identify the prescriber and the patient's name must match the ticket.

Does the 100 ml container rule also apply to ordinary liquids on Vietjet Air VJ domestic flights?

Vietjet's domestic-flight rule does not set a general volume limit for ordinary liquids, provided baggage weight and size limits are met. Odorous liquids and alcoholic drinks have separate restrictions. This domestic rule must not be applied to international flights or international transfers.

Can I carry an e-cigarette in cabin baggage on Vietjet Air VJ?

No. The current baggage page rejects battery-powered handheld electronic smoking devices in any form, including e-cigarettes, heated-tobacco devices and similar vaporisers. They will be refused at check-in, and the passenger must arrange storage or disposal before boarding.

Can a large musical instrument occupy a purchased cabin seat on Vietjet Air VJ?

The baggage page allows large instruments as oversized baggage or on an additional cabin seat, with a cabin-seat limit of 165 × 44 × 66 cm and 75 kg. Confirm and arrange the service with the airline's sales channel in advance rather than arriving with only an ordinary passenger ticket.
