Oman Air was founded on June 4, 1993. It is Oman's flagship carrier. It is headquartered at Muscat International Airport, Muscat, Oman. It is also the airline's main hub. Oman Air is a member of the Arab Airlines Organization (AACO), IATA, and ICAO. The airline operates scheduled domestic and international passenger services and charter flights. In total, the company serves 50 routes. The Oman Air fleet consists of 51 aircrafts.

Baggage
Passengers are allowed one piece of hand baggage with a maximum weight of 7 kg in economy class and two pieces of hand baggage with a maximum weight of 7 kg each in first and business class. Each piece of hand baggage may not exceed the maximum dimensions of 115 cm (length + height + width). Free baggage allowance: First and Business Class - 2 pieces weighing up to 50 kg total; Economy Class - 2 pieces weighing up to 30 kg total. Linear dimensions of each seat must not exceed 158 cm.
Oman Air does not allow live animals on any flights. However, pets can be carried as luggage. A maximum of two pets per passenger is allowed. Two adult pets of comparable size and weighing up to 14 kg (30 lbs) may travel in the same crate. Three pets under the age of six months from the same litter weighing up to 14 kg (30 lbs) each may be transported in the same crate.
Infants are defined as children under two years of age. Infants may fly without a seat on the plane, on the lap of an accompanying adult. If you wish, you can buy a seat on the plane for an infant at the infant fare. Air travel is not recommended during the first seven days after birth. Infants less than seven days old are allowed only for medical emergencies with an approved medical certificate. Only one infant is allowed per adult passenger.
Check-in can be done online (via the website or mobile app) or at the airport. Online check-in can be completed between 24 hours and 90 minutes before the scheduled departure time. Passengers can also check-in for a connecting/returning Oman Air flight if the flight departs during this time window. Check-in desks open three hours before departure and close 60 minutes before departure.
Children over the age of five can travel alone. A minors' escort service is compulsory for children 5-12 years old. For children over 12 years old, the minors' escort service is not compulsory and can be booked at parents' request.

When should I request an Oman Air special meal?
The special-meals page requires 24 hours’ advance notice and requests at reservation. This is separate from paid HiCafé meal upgrades.
Are Oman Air AVML and VGML both dairy-free?
No. AVML may contain cheese and dairy. VGML is the vegan option excluding meat, poultry, fish and dairy. Choose the appropriate meal code.
How do I arrange an Oman Air bassinet seat if it is unavailable on the seat map?
Some bassinet-facing seats are withheld from ordinary preselection. Contact the Sales Office or Call Centre early to request one.
Can an Oman Air passenger travelling with an infant sit in an exit row?
No. Exit-row occupants must be at least 16, understand English instructions and be willing and able to assist evacuation. Restricted-mobility passengers and those needing a second seatbelt are also excluded.
Who arranges care during an Oman Air unaccompanied child’s long or overnight transfer?
For transfers exceeding six hours or involving an overnight stop, the parent or guardian must arrange care at the transfer point. Coordinate the itinerary with Oman Air in advance.
Is identification required when collecting an unaccompanied child from Oman Air?
Yes. Staff follow the agreed handover arrangements and require identification before releasing the child to the parent or guardian. Supply departure, arrival and any transfer contacts in advance.
Does Oman Air Super Saver always exclude checked baggage?
No. Its April 22, 2026 announcement lists 20 kg on selected Indian-subcontinent, Cairo, Manila, Dar es Salaam, Baghdad and Zanzibar routes; Comfort has 30 kg and Flex 40 kg there. Check the ticket.
Can I put an Oman Air allowance exceeding 32 kg into one suitcase?
No. The published maximum is 32 kg per piece. Heavier items may require special handling or cargo; this is a per-piece limit, not a free allowance.
Must I still visit bag drop after Oman Air online check-in?
Yes. The FAQ describes a counter for online-checked-in passengers where staff tag checked baggage. An online boarding pass does not check in the bags.
