Aerolínea del Estado Mexicano operating as Mexicana is a newly established Mexican airline that started operations in December 2023. It is fully state owned and run by SEDENA which manages the Mexican armed forces. The state bought the original name and branding from the defunct Mexicana de Aviacion and is applying it to the new airline. The new Mexicana has its main hub at Mexico City's new Felipe Angeles International Airport (NLU). After starting operations using the Air Force's 737-800 fleet, Mexicana now operates newly acquired Embraer E190 and E195 E2 aircraft.
