How to travel around Burundi by air

What to expect when flying between cities or connecting after an international arrival.

Flying between cities in Burundi

  • Check current domestic-flight availability before planning travel within Burundi
In its Burundi listing last updated on 1 October 2026, FlightConnections identifies Bujumbura as the only airport with scheduled passenger flights and lists no domestic flights. This is a dated schedule-directory snapshot; it does not rule out charters or later service changes. Before planning travel within Burundi, confirm bookable passenger options and onward connections with the carrier for your dates.

Arriving from another country

  • Contact baggage-service staff for BJM missing or damaged bags
Burundi Airlines’ ground-handling description lists a baggage section for claims and missing, damaged or excess bags. For your own baggage issue at BJM, report it to the operating carrier or relevant handling staff and confirm follow-up arrangements; this does not promise compensation.

Check BJM baggage weight and excess with your airline

Burundi Airlines’ published Bujumbura ground-handling service includes weighing baggage and notifying the airline of excess. Check your own operating carrier’s allowance and excess process before departure; the handling description is not one free-weight allowance for all airlines.
