For third-country nationals, Greenland entry rules depend on residence status and itinerary. Since 20 March 2026, holders of a residence permit issued by Denmark or another Schengen country may travel to Greenland on that permit. A residence permit issued by a Schengen country other than Denmark removes the separate visa requirement; travel from Denmark to Greenland no longer requires an entry permit under this rule. Eligible third-country family members covered by Directive 2004/38/EC may also enter on their residence card. A long-stay D visa issued by another Schengen country alone still requires a visa valid for Greenland. A short-stay C-visa visitor in Denmark who continues to Greenland without a Greenland-valid visa must apply for an entry permit. Bring the physical residence card and valid travel documentation.
