How to travel around Latvia by air

What to expect when flying between cities or connecting after an international arrival.

Flying between cities in Latvia

  • Liepaja Airport currently has no regular flights
At the time of verification, Liepaja Airport stated that it had no regular flights. Do not rely on historical Riga–Liepaja timetables as current booking options; confirm the date and operation of any new offer directly. This airport-specific statement does not establish the absence of every domestic flight in Latvia.

Arriving from another country

  • Report delayed bags under the airline’s instructions
Unless the airline has given different instructions, Riga airport advises promptly reporting delayed baggage at Lost & Found in the reclaim area before customs or through the airline’s baggage service. Follow the process for your actual carrier.
  • Check entry documents for your nationality and route
Entry checks depend on nationality, documents and route. Latvia’s tourism authority says there are no border controls at internal Schengen borders, while Latvia’s borders with Russia and Belarus do have controls. Carry a passport or other ID; a driving licence or bankcard is not a travel document. A visa by itself does not grant entry, so check current Latvian immigration rules for your own case.

Distinguish airBaltic personal items from cabin bags

airBaltic states that cabin-bag entitlement depends on ticket type; permission for a personal item does not mean every fare includes a cabin bag. For codeshare or interline sectors operated by another airline, check that carrier’s segment-specific rules.
