Volaris El Salvador FAQs

Find quick answers to the most common questions about flying with Volaris El Salvador.

What size and weight limits apply to personal items and carry-on bags on Volaris El Salvador?

A personal item must fit under the seat ahead and measure no more than 35 × 45 × 20 cm. A carry-on bag is limited to 55 × 40 × 25 cm and 10 kg; the combined weight of both items must not exceed 20 kg. Zero and Basic fares do not include a carry-on bag, which must be purchased separately. Check the allowance included in your booking.

Is the checked baggage allowance on Volaris El Salvador 15 kg or 25 kg, and what is the size limit?

The current baggage guide lists one 15 kg checked bag for Basic, one 25 kg bag for Plus, and no checked bag for Zero. A standard checked bag purchased separately allows up to 25 kg, with combined length, width and height of no more than 158 cm. Check your fare and purchased baggage; 25 kg is not a free allowance on every ticket.

How can I add baggage after buying a Volaris El Salvador ticket?

You can add baggage through My Trips, the Volaris app or the Call Center, or buy it at the airport at the applicable rate. Volaris recommends adding a carry-on allowance when booking or before reaching the airport. Standard additional checked bags are limited to 25 kg and 158 cm in combined dimensions; check the price displayed when purchasing.

What identification should I put on checked baggage when flying with Volaris El Salvador?

The carriage agreement requires your name and address both inside and outside each bag. Check that the baggage receipt contains the correct personal and service details and that its piece count and registered numbers match the bags you checked. Keep the receipt for collection or a claim.

Does paying an excess baggage fee guarantee that Volaris El Salvador will carry my extra bags?

No. Baggage beyond the purchased allowance or size, weight or volume limits requires the applicable excess baggage charge and taxes. The carriage agreement also makes acceptance of excess baggage subject to aircraft capacity in all cases. Confirm your allowance and any special requirements in advance; paying a fee does not guarantee acceptance.

Can I assume one baggage allowance covers every leg of an interline itinerary involving Volaris El Salvador?

Check the requirements for each leg on the ticket issued by the selling airline. Baggage must comply with the participating airlines’ policies and applicable international treaties, and the ticket should state the specifications for each leg. Some destinations may involve excess baggage charges and taxes, which the selling airline must disclose. Do not assume one leg’s allowance applies throughout.

How far in advance must I notify Volaris El Salvador if I need a portable oxygen concentrator or CPAP?

Notify the airline at least 48 hours before scheduled departure if you need your own portable oxygen concentrator, ventilator, respirator, CPAP or another special device for medical reasons during the flight. Advance notice does not automatically approve the device; the airline’s safety procedures and applicable requirements still apply.

When should I request an additional seat on Volaris El Salvador?

Request the additional seat when purchasing or reserving your ticket so the airline can explain its cost and arrange it under its safety procedures. Do not leave the request until boarding or assume that the additional seat is free.

What happens to other flight segments and extras when I replace a passenger on an eligible Volaris El Salvador booking through My Trips?

The name change automatically applies to every flight segment in the booking, and purchased extras transfer to the new passenger. For international flights, complete the service no later than 72 hours before departure and before check-in. Check eligibility in My Trips; agency and codeshare bookings, among others, are excluded. The change fee is non-refundable, and special assistance for the new passenger must be requested separately.

What documents are required for a checked baggage claim with Volaris El Salvador?

The airline’s English baggage claim form lists a copy of the flight ticket, a copy of the baggage irregularity report, the original bag tag, and a copy of any applicable excess baggage receipt. Keep the airport report and original baggage documents rather than relying only on a payment screenshot. Compensation is determined under applicable law and international treaties.
