Flying between cities in French Polynesia
- Check inter-island baggage separately from long-haul sectors
Air Tahiti explains that smaller ATR or Twin Otter aircraft have different baggage conditions from international long-haul aircraft. Check your inter-island ticket and fare; excess baggage is space-dependent and may incur a fee, so carriage on your flight is not guaranteed. - Check Air Tahiti domestic connection times
Air Tahiti’s current minimum-connection rules are 45 minutes between two Air Tahiti domestic flights, 90 minutes from an international flight to an Air Tahiti flight, and 120 minutes from an Air Tahiti flight to an international flight. Rarotonga routes are treated as international. These are carrier connection minima, not a guarantee of through-ticketing or baggage transfer; verify your ticket and operating carrier. Air Tahiti says its published timetable may change and is not guaranteed. - Check Air Tahiti inter-island check-in deadlines
Air Tahiti online check-in opens 30 hours and closes 1 hour before departure, for its listed eligible island departures; it is not available on Beechcraft flights or connections involving Beechcraft. At Tahiti-Faa’a airport, desks open 2 hours before departure and Air Tahiti recommends arriving at the desk 1 hour 30 minutes before. Check-in closes 30 minutes before departure, or 20 minutes for the Leeward Islands. Late passengers may be denied boarding and onward/return bookings may be cancelled. These are Air Tahiti rules; check the current instruction for your island and ticket.
